The Genesis account describes a lush place "to the east," crossed by a river that divides into four branches. But the roots of this garden are even deeper: archaeologists and historians find echoes of Eden in ancient Mesopotamian hanging gardens and in Near Eastern temples, symbols of cosmic order and divine peace.

In the Giardini dell'Eden collection, we have translated this "architecture of paradise" into Caltagirone handcrafted ceramics. The Symbolic Dialogue: Eve, Venus, and Mary

In creating this line, we were inspired by the complexity of the feminine in Western art. Three seemingly distant figures intertwine in a visual dialogue that we have impressed upon our decorations:

• Eve: The first woman, a symbol of curiosity and courage. While tradition has often seen her as a "sinner," we celebrate her as the one who chose knowledge. Her discovery of nudity in art inextricably links the human body to awareness.
• Venus: The classical goddess of love and beauty. In the collection, the elegance of Venus – that same grace that Botticelli made eternal – is reflected in the sinuosity of the lines and the refinement of the details that attract the eye at first glance.
• Mary (the "New Eve"): The point of balance. In Renaissance art, Mary's purity often borrowed the sweetness of classical Venuses.

4. Second firing: to fix the colors and give that typical Sofia style luster.
